Kitchen and Closet Destruction!

.........AND IT BEGINS!
Our "to be" sitting room, now filled with all the kitchen cabinets we will be reusing. Since we are adding on a huge pantry with all new cabinets, we decided to save money and reuse our existing cabinets. We are just changing the layout and design. We removed the peninsula and will be replacing with a center island. As well as gaining 5 more feet by removing a half bath and the existing pantry.
Dusty hard at work tearing out a 6 inch wall ledge. We would rather gain those 6 inches than have a clutter shelf surrounding the kitchen!
Greta and Atticus doing their best to help! The line to the right of them is where the existing peninsula was. Thank goodness the flooring below remained intact! We will refinish the original floor when done!SURPRISE! We have been wondering about this chimney for quite some time now. We thought it would look better to expose the chimney if possible, if it was still intact and not crumbly. So far, so good! I hope it remains in good condition as we reveal more. I would love for this to be exposed in the kitchen! It looks awesome! On the 2nd floor we will be tearing out our existing closet to give us 3 more feet of space, as well as an exposed chimney (hopefully) ~ we will be adding on to our bedroom a walk in closet, laundry room and a master bathroom. Cannot wait ~ conveniences we have been longing for!

Moving Time!

Well we are officially moved into Dusty's parents. It was an easy transition since we are only about 8 miles apart. Deconstruction has begun inside the house. Does not look like they are going to "break ground" for about another week. And the waiting begins.....We are in the process of tearing out all the kitchen cabinets and countertops as well as still boxing up odds and ends. Dusty finished the basement all by himself, moving everything into one area and wrapping with plastic. 2 walls in the basement will be broke into, so we will have plenty of concrete dust floating around. Dusty has been amazing, seeing that I cannot really lift anything at all. I am a good boxer-upper and director, that's about it! My Dad has also helped alot, pitching in to watch the kids and even mow the lawn. He is always there when needed, thanks Dad!

I hope to get some pictures taken tonight of the MESS! I keep forgetting my camera though. Greta and Atticus have adjusted extrememly well. They are just waiting for Grandma and Grandpa to get home and open the pool :)

Happy Mother's Day!

This is my favorite tree in the yard. It has such an amazing color in the spring, I wish it lasted all year long. My hope is to take pictures under this tree every Mother's Day. Not only to see the beautful tree! but to see the growth of my children as well. Greta is almost 4 1/2 and Atticus 2 1/2 and our little baby boy (name not decided yet) is arriving sometime mid-July! An exciting time for the Horner House!
